A medical doctor & health informatics expert with three-decade experience in India, Abu Dhabi and the United Kingdom. Having Earned an MBBS from Madras University (1989) and post-graduation in Health Informatics from Swansea University, UK (2005), he deftly plays in both fields. He currently is VP – Clinical Informatics @ Coheremed.com, an Acute Care Automation & Analytics company with offices in USA and India. He was Clinical Director for GE Healthcare IT – South Asia for over a decade till 2015, with stints in R&D, Engineering & Implementation roles. He worked with the Ministry of Health in Abu Dhabi as a Medical Officer in Internal and Emergency Medicine while also teaching medical students at UAE University, for nine years from 1994 to 2003. He continues to practice Old Age Medicine and Palliative Medicine pro bono.

His Paper for the UK Parliament Health Select Committee ‘The utilization of telemedicine (telecare) and its future potential for improving services’ was published [http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pacm200405/cmselect/cmhealth/398/39814.htm] in 2005. He is a member of the ‘EMR Interoperability Standards for India’ expert committee formed by the Health Secretary, Govt of India, which has published a set of standards in Aug 2013 and a revision in 2016. He was also key to India joining IHTSDO – international health terminology standards development organization, Denmark as a national member, resulting in SNOMED-CT available freely to all in India.

He is a member of AMIA – American Medical Informatics Association, ACEP -American College of Emergency Physicians, AAFP – American Academy of Family Physicians and IAMI – Indian Association for Medical Informatics. In his role as International Ambassador for Swansea University he ably bridges Wales, Swansea and Swansea University with India.

Successfully transforming the ecosystem requires a cadre of healthcare workers trained in digital health capabilities. Working with like-minded professionals he has organized more than ten hands-on workshops in addition to India’s first EMR Interoperability Connectathon in 2016. The mission to create a HealthIT cadre has begun under his leadership, crossing key milestones consistently. He is a much sought-after public speaker, regularly delivering invited talks on Medical Informatics nationally and internationally. Mentoring, guiding, teaching, advising all who seek his counsel, it is his singular achievement to attract many youngsters to informatics
